When I saw this article in the Toronto Star Tuesday, June 10, 2014, I thought finally my hopes are beginning to be realized. Yes, we do benefit economically, environmentally and in terms of health when our trees flourish and thrive in the city. My relief about the article is that once the general population and politicians and economists start to consider trees as part of their living equations, then maybe we will have a chance to learn about the truly inspirational and spiritual side of getting along with and nurturing trees.
In the year 2008, during a time of extreme personal and emotional stress, I had a dream in which I encountered what I considered to be the spirit of the birch trees that I would gaze at for solace and comfort. Through that experience, I came to learn how important Nature around me really is and that I am grateful for every ounce and moment of it that I am able to experience.
